The Guidance Department at MVP is comprised of two School Counselors, Ms. Elizabeth Hurley and Ms. Tara Deahn. Our School Counselors are dedicated to supporting all students, school staff, families and the community to increase student achievement. Ms. Hurley and Ms. Deahn have established an “open door policy,” serving both general education and special education students individually, in small groups, and in a classroom setting. This promotes a productive school counseling program where all students are supported in three domains: academic, social/emotional and personal/relational. Middle school is an exciting and challenging time for students. Ms. Hurley and Ms. Deahn work closely with our students as they transition from elementary school, and at each grade level here at MVP. Ms. Hurley and Ms. Deahn understand that the transition to high school can be overwhelming. Our Guidance Department provides parent engagement opportunities through various High School Transition Workshops, individualized High School Transition Meetings, as well as MVP’s very own Annual High School Fair. The Guidance Department works in partnership with parents/guardians, teachers, administration, and all school staff to uphold a positive school culture for our students.
