****PRINCIPAL UPDATE - APRIL 17, 2020****

Dear Parents and Students of the MVP Community,

First and foremost, we are always thinking of you and your families during this crisis and trust you are all healthy and safe.

Second, we acknowledge the tireless efforts of our teaching staff for providing quality education to our students, your children, under these unprecedented circumstances. We have been hard at work increasing opportunities to provide our students with meaningful virtual learning experiences, including virtual field trips, “remote one to one support” and counseling services. We also want to extend our appreciation to you, our beloved parental community, for your ongoing support and cooperation. We are cognizant of how difficult and challenging this “new normal” has been since the inception of this approach to teaching, through “remote learning”.  I can only reiterate our assurance that together, as a team, we will ensure ourstudents’ success even through a pandemic; and hopefully, the crisis conditions will be behind us very soon.

In closing, please be reminded that Governor Cuomo announced a new Executive Order extending mandatory closure for all New York state schools to May 15, 2020.  Let me clarify, Charter Schools are to follow the directives set forth by the Governor.  As we receive new notifications or updates from the State, we will make sure to share those with you. Additionally, this week Governor Cuomo also signed Executive Order 202.17, which requires everyone ages 2 years and older to wear a mask or cloth to cover their nose and mouth in public when not practicing socially distancing.

Please continue to check our messages through platforms such as Facebook and the school’s website.  We are proudly sharing some of the work being done by our students and teachers . Also, please check Teacherease on a regular basis to review any messages from the teachers and to monitor student academic progress.

Continue to be and stay safe.

With extraordinary pride and gratitude for everything you do!

Nancy Velez,

Principal
