Students, faculty, and staff joined in the auditorium for a brief presentation on the importance of coming together and fighting cancer. From there, students went to the gymnasium for a “Walk-A-Thon” in which students walked laps around the gym, similar to the experience at American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life Event (more information will follow on MVP’s participation after the December holidays). For every lap, students received a bead for their “lap necklace” as a symbol of their participation in the fight. Support continued during students’ lunch periods, as baked goods were sold to raise money for this cause and proceeds being donated to Susan G. Foundation. Finally, the event culminated during PM homeroom, where teachers wrapped up with conversations how students can continue to participate in the fight against cancer.
