Parents and community members were invited to MVP on June 7th to be guest speakers for our first annual College and Career Week. Our panel took turns in explaining to our students what steps they took in achieving their dreams and following their hearts on the path to successful careers. Today provided the students with a dynamic and tangible experience that facilitated a connection between their academic pursuits and professional future endeavors. Our students were then able to ask questions and dive deeper into these professions; for many of those interested in these fields, their journey to a successful career started today!
Thank you so much to our panelists: Mr. Robert Sofia (Book Author), Honorable Inez Hoyos (Civil Court Judge), Ms. Malissia Castro (New York State University Police Officer), Mrs. Suzanne Ortega (NYPD Detective), and Mr. Mark Papish (Constituent Affairs Manager for Assemblyman Brian Barnwell).
We look forward to expanding this experience to at least twice a year with more details to follow in September 2019, and we hope that our group of speakers will be able to join us once again, and hope for even more volunteers! The students at MVP greatly benefited from this week's college and career exploration, and we will continue to build this foundation for years to come. It's never too early to start thinking about your future, as our students heard today, and we at MVP believe that it's always the right time to dream big and accomplish your goals! Thanks again to our volunteers, students, faculty and staff that helped to make our First Annual College and Career Week a success!
